In 2005 I originally published La Roe's Curse (called La Roes at that time), though it went over well, it was severely lacking in quality. In 2008 Fay's Wish came out, it was definitely a better quality book, though my quality of writing had improved, it was still not where it is today. Thankfully, I became friends with Cindy, who happens to not only love reading books but is also an excellent editor. She took both books and helped me to polish them and publish them under my name.

Both books are now available in print and ebook formats on various sites.

As you might know Cindy is the Manager of Personalized Marketing Inc, while I am the Owner. I love working with our clients and seeing their networks have organic growth. I also love the challenges that some of our clients bring to us, especially when trying something new. This month, #PMInc is celebrating it's 13th Anniversary and I am celebrating my 49th. It is amazing how much time has past since all of this began. We are having a celebration of sorts for #PMInc and as part of it, I will be giving away copies of ebooks from our participating clients and other fun items.

The Curse

Centuries past, during a time of magic, deep mourning, and when men’s hearts were darker than the blackest of nights, two men Nathaniel Burundi Stygian and Sebastian Todd Lochinvar made the ultimate mistake of angering an old and powerful witch. She had watched as the two men used wealth and prowess to prey on innocent women; turning their victims’ tender young hearts into those of pain and anguish. Determined to teach them a lesson, of punishment based on love, she placed a curse on Nathaniel and Sebastian that reflected their beastly behaviors. They would live throughout eternity knowing their descendants would walk through life facing the same suffering their callous behavior had caused others.

Time is running out for their descendants ensnared by the curse; the women are dying painful deaths and the men are becoming more like the beast lurking just under the surface. Can the curse be broken, or will it be the end for all.

Prologue

What’s to Come…

I return home to face my Mother and Clarice who are demanding I settle down and marry someone else. Burundi Wines is in financial trouble and with another year of bad grapes it doesn’t look as though that will change. However, as if none of this were bad enough; there was always Grant Dionysus, who is an even larger threat to my sanity.

Grant Dionysus, the cousin of my late husband, has always wanted Burundi Wines. As the owner of Dionysus Winery, which is one of the largest wineries in the world, Grant believes that he can turn Burundi Wines into a profitable extension of his family’s winery. Growing up, I used to think he was insane, now I know he is. At first, he was insisting that I sell it Burundi Wines to him, and now he expects me to believe that he really loves me. Yeah right, sure he does; he just loves power and money which combining our family's wineries can give him.

As if Grant, Mother and Clarice were not enough to deal with, let’s add Kevin to this mix. Kevin, my late husband’s best friend, has come back into my life acting as though he really wants me and only me. Is Kevin really there to be all I need or to simply take what he can, as all of the others have tried doing? I’m sure they all want what is best for me, as long as it is better for them.

The only person in my life that I have been able to depend upon is my best friend, Harry, and even he is acting strange. Granted, he is getting married, but it is more than that, he is acting as though I know something I don’t, and it is really starting to get under my skin.

The only good that can come out of returning home is the knowledge that I will leave it once more. Or so I thought…

Excerpt -

Taken From Chapter 3

Afterwards, lying beside one another with my head resting on his chest, I had felt such an overwhelming sense of rightness that tears prickled my eyes.

“Thank you,” he whispered softly.

I began to ask why, when he answered me.

“I promise I will take good care of Burundi Wines and Sinful Chocolates, and you for giving them to me.”

I felt my body jerk as the shock of what he said turned my insides on fire. I could not stop the flinch when he went to rub my cheek. With tears of anger, hurt, and betrayal coursing down my face, I hit him in the stomach as hard as I could. He rolled away cursing, as I stumbled up and tried to grab my dress. When it wouldn’t budge, I cried out furiously and fled inside with only my sandals in hand.

I locked my doors that night and turned on the radio so loud I was surprised no one had come and complained. Then again, they might have. I couldn’t hear anything outside of my own heart breaking as it pounded in denial sounding almost like someone trying to break my heart in two. The following morning, before anyone woke, I left Mother a note beside my bed and fled to Paris. From there I caught the first flight to the U.S. and never looked back. I swore that moment I would never give Grant a chance to hurt me again.

*****

Slamming back into the present, a whimper escaped as I pulled away from Grant with more strength than necessary forcing him to stumble backwards. I wasn’t sure but I thought he had been remembering the last time we had touched, or at least the scorching glare in his eyes led me to believe it. He did not say a word as I shoved the bedroom door in his face. Safely inside the room with the door locked behind me I slid to the floor. The tears I had shed so long ago flowed without care once again. My body relived each moment from the heart driven passion to the cutting end. Finally giving in I cried until I felt hollow inside, Grant was the one thing that my title, the winery or his own pride would never let me have. As long as I was the Burundi Heiress men like Grant would never see me for who I really was.
