Cindy (my editor and manager) continues to amaze me!
I am beyond words at the incredible work she’s done.

Shayla, Princess of the Fay, must begin the journey to discover her true power by leaving the island. If she’s successful, she will become queen. Her plight won’t be an easy one, for there are those who would use Shayla as a means to solidify their own position of power.

Kyle, Shayla’s guide in the human world, is destined to bring hope to the Fay even though his own future seems bleak. With Kyle by her side, miracles can happen, offering the promise of the return of the magic.

Once that happens, nothing is impossible.

TEASER

As I entered the garden, the smell of succulent roses and jasmine infused me. I continued upon an emerald and ruby path, glinting like a wine-filled goblet. Gliding over pearls and bright quartz, I headed for the waterfalls, the soft lining of moss caressing my feet. My heart faltered. He was human.

I heard it loudly, his sarcastic curse. Of the three of us, I did not know who was shocked more.
“Well? Am I getting this straight or not?”
“How long have you been standing there? Never mind. You should not concern yourself with my problems. It is who I am, who my people are. I am sorry, but it is all I can say on the matter. You only need to know this and only this. Love has never, nor ever will, come into this decision.”
I tried giving him enough information. To explain what being Fay meant, without telling him who my people are. But, how should I make him understand something I have never believed in myself?
“I don’t get it. You are supposed to be a Princess, but can’t choose who you marry? Am I missing something important, or are you and your people nuts?”
“I am so sorry, Princess. I should not have used your title. Now he knows.”
“Do not be upset. He knew before we came here.”
Aine frowned. “He is the man from the water. The dream come to life. A wish made by a dying mother granted…” Her eyes widened.
I did not know if I was the only one who felt the change of vision, and the grays turning bluer, but the world shifted and inhaled.
“A wish made and fulfilled, and nothing would stand in its way.” I heard Aine’s voice, a whistle in the wind.
Goddess grant us the knowledge we require… My life…Kyle’s…all of our lives altered forever, the pieces in place. I realized my fate to love a dying man, to grant my mothers wish, and to know a love greater than my mother’s own.
But what of theirs?
I was positive Kyle was to love someone he could never have. Or was the meaning higher, and to know something greater than his impending death? Aine’s anxious chant may not have been cast the true way, but it still had effect. Life was fraught with beginnings and endings, and new life. Will Aine also finish something she or her family started?
My journey began to bring life back to my dying people, and for me to avoid a marriage. Now my destiny branched, a tree in the wind.
“I have done more than enough intruding for one night. I will leave you two alone to sort out this mess. I am sorry, Princess. I fear I have made your life more difficult.”
Aine had over-stepped her bounds, and there was nothing either of us could do about it.
